Welcome to Saxophone House in Rethymno! We’re so happy to have you here.
It’s always such a pleasure to welcome travelers like yourself to stay here. Your host Eleni, a native Cretan, has lived here all her life. That’s how she knows that this is a great spot to explore the city from, especially if this is your first time in Crete! We’ve added some tips for sightseeing and local insights to this manual, just in case you need them.You will find travel guides and a map in drawers of coffee table in living room.
And don’t worry you won’t hear saxophones playing all night!
The printed house manual has everything you need to enjoy a comfortable stay in our apartment, including instructions for how to use the appliances and join the Wi-Fi.
You’ll also find our contact information in case you need us during your stay. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT
Usual check-in is from 3:00 pm on the day of your arrival. Please check out promptly by 11:00 am so that we can prepare the apartment for our next guests. If your arrival will earlier or later let us know to make arrangements for you.
It’s important that the number of guests staying are stated in your reservation.
Let us know via Whatsapp and e-mail and we’ll do our best to arrange it for you.
PARKING INSTRUCTIONS
We have a single numbered spot to park your car: PEH 1419, which you will spot when you arrive. Please feel free to park here for the duration of your stay if it is free. If not free please park down below somewhere on main street. It is very important not to park in a different numbered spot!
HOW TO GET INTO THE HOUSE
We will send you the info you need to find the place at least one day or more before your arrival.
Someone will greet you! Please arrange time in advance as we come from another village to meet you. A call or message 15 min before arrival as well will be appreciated
The Wi-Fi network name is in printed folder.
We want you to have an amazing stay, but we also ask that you respect our property and the neighbors. No parties or large gatherings allowed.
Please keep noise to a minimum between 23:00 pm and 07:00 including floor noises, just lift chairs up when moving etc. Also the traditional afternoon siesta in Greece is between 15:00 and 17:30
No smoking inside but permitted on the three balconies. No pets.
HOW TO USE APPLIANCES
TV
There is a TV remote on the coffee table. We have a smart TV with streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video already downloaded. Please feel free to log in to your own accounts and enjoy your favorite shows. Don’t forget to log out again before you leave!
Air conditioning
There is no thermostat, units are controlled by remote controls. Please remember to turn the A/C off at night and when you leave the apartment as it’s very, very expensive to run.
Coffee machine
Help yourself to coffee pods which are next to the coffee machine. You may want to shop for more pods that are standard Nespresso, (the Lidl pods fit and specialty coffee stores like Moka or Coffee Island have own blends)
Washer and dryer
The washer/dryer is located the WC and you are welcome to use it during your stay. It’s quite straightforward, but if you get stuck, the user manual is in the living room drawer or search online.
Dishwasher
Please make sure the dishwasher is full and set to ‘Eco’ before you turn it on. There are dishwasher tablets in the cupboard under the sink. The full cycle takes around one hour. We would appreciate it if you would load the dishwasher and set it to run at the end of your stay.
LOCAL INSIGHTS
Transport
The best way to get around Rethymno is to walk. Walking around the city is nice as many of the neighborhoods are pedestrianized, especially in the Old Town Walking back to the house the last 150 meters is a steep incline up … better view up high!
The apartment is well connected by bus. The closest stop is down on the main street about 300 meters but a walk of 300 meters more you are at the main bus station with connections to all of Crete. Many tour operators offer good day trips that are very economical and fun.
The nearest airports are Chania International Airport, 66 km and Heraklion International is 87 KM from Apartment – Saxophone House.
Food & drink
Grocery stores
You can find a supermarket 5 minutes walk for picking up supplies. By car the Lidl is 3 minutes away.You will also pass several supermarkets on your travels into the city.
SIGHTSEEING
You’ve made a good choice to stay in Rethymno because you’re nearly in the heart of the city near many famous attractions. From here, you can walk down to the Old Town in heart of Rethymno, about 800 meters or to the larger beach. The closest small beach “Kubes” is about 540 meters from the House.
EMERGENCY INFORMATION
There is a fire extinguisher in cabinet under sink in the kitchen. In the case of a fire, you should evacuate through the main entrance.
Please respond to any emergencies quickly and safely, and contact the local authorities at once.
The emergency phone number is 112. Call this number for the police, the fire department, or an ambulance.
